Here is what I do to keep the front carb in shape>>>>> With the engine warmed up and running in neutral , with the emergency brake engaged, I rev the engine numerous times by manually rotating the front carb throttle linkage. As you will see, the carb opens and closes nicely with the throttle lever sliding back and forth on the slotted shaft. Run the RPMs up and down several times and occasionally give it a good snap to give a nice pump shot. I wouldn't want to run with both carbs in tandem, as you would probably have an over-rich condition. Have a 59 - she's nice, but I live in Miami and rarely have the opportunity to get the car going faster than say 50 mph or so because of traffic. Stay off the expressways as there are too many crazies down here. Anyway, I heard that if you never engage the front 4bbl carb, it can gum up. I had both rebuilt a few years ago and they work fine. But I was wondering, would it hurt the engine or the carbs if you Gerry rigged the carbs such that they both engage when you accelerate? This would be easy enough just playing with the linkage. I can't think why there would be a problem as long as you don't step on it in traffic!! Curious. Tom 59 300E Miami, FL ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
