Interesting stuff.the Post writer makes an error, however.  I believe there
are four of these known still today.  This one is considered by many the
most significant because of the racing history and provenance.  It is
interesting that the writer notes that the bids will open at 13 million.
Christies (unlike any other auto auction co) accepts bids in advance and the
auctioneer himself (herself) holds and places the bid for the advance or
absentee bidder.  Perhaps they have an advance bid of 13 mil already?

 

One of my Newport and Hartford show entrants is watching this sale closely
as he owns a significant one-off Lancia that he is restoring for sale.  It
was given by Mussolini to Hitler as a gift in '37.Very interesting car.
