I have been waiting for the critics to file their reports re: Chrysler, the Marque, and, since they were favorable, can close the book on the event. The unwashed masses of old car people in the Bay Area were able to finally understand what the Lettered Cars were all about thanks mostly to folks from this great club. As the Brutes were assigned spots based upon early to late manufacture and because the advertising agency provided me with 8.5 inch roundels with the year and letter plus the red, white, blue badge, for each car, it was easily seen how the scheme worked from 1955 to 1965. Responding to my call, the following folks brought cars. C300.............Richard Barber 300B.............Roger Schaaf 300C.............Gary Gettleman 300D.............AWOL 300E............Joe Hensler (not a member (Sacramento) but hired a driver to show his car as he had to be in Scotland!) I shall send him an application as he is our kind of guy. Bright red convertible. 300F............Louis Barrie, boss of Big Yellow 300F............Joe Falore, also not a member but interested. He owns the Off-Polar Blue tastefully redone by Jim Manly and winner of many awards. 300G...........Bob Jasinski's rag for the past 18 years. Bob couldn't be there but allowed Lefty to pick it up two weeks early and to return it soon. Bob mentioned that he never let anybody else even drive his car let alone take it home for three weeks. I'm reporting that Bob's is the nicest driving F or G I have ever had the pleasure to operate. Bob!!! As long as you have my Ram Dodge in your garage as hostage, can you make the Carters as sweet as yours? 300H..........Doug Warrener 300J...........Bill Kuettel (not now a member, but has been) Sharp eyed holders of the official program of the concours can look on page 61 and see Kuettel's Best of Show picture in 1995. 1928 Lincoln. There is a gent in the back seat along for the ride over the ramp to the prize. He has a certain trade-mark cap on his head often seen at our shows and will be again in Oklahoma. 300 Pace..........Doug Jones finally gets the respect his car demands! 300K...........Richard Palmer shows a very recent restoration of hard to find Letter 300L...........Bruce Toelle (President of the brother Club) Reminder: The 300 Inc will be hosting a meet in September in Newnan Georgia but I haven't the dates. TWO meets of the faithful.....how sweet is that? I was asked to edit the feature article on Letters for the program. This is a rarity and should be s.o.p. when unknown material is written about. The author thanked me very nicely at the end of the article as follows: "My thanks to Larry Jett for his knowledge and comments, the photos of his collection, and for keeping my story accurate" Why the wry smile here? The caption on the picture of the 392 Hemi says: "Ram-induction 413 cubic inch" The winners of the class: First....Barrie. Second.....Falore with the other F. Third.....Schaaf. Really, the spectators were the winners as well as the various charities the Lion's Clubs endows with the net of the day. Thanks to one and all!!
