Hi Group, I just did a transmission service on my 2002 300M and now it's down shifting hard from 3rd to 2nd when slowing down at normal speeds (around 30mph). It feels like a downshift with the Auto-stick. The service I did was to drop the pan, change the filter and gasket, and refill (5 ½ quarts) the transmission with ATF plus4 fluid. I did not flush or drain the torque converter. I was careful to remove the old "o" ring and replace it with the new one provided. This was the first time this car has had a trans. service (53,000 miles). Chrysler Technical Service Bulletin 2-004-04 is the latest fluid use bulletin we have. The 2002 300M is on the list of vehicles to NOT use ATF+4. So, first, I would suggest you verify that +4 is OK or not for your car through your Chrysler dealer. Using any sealer on a trans pan is an invitation to disaster. Gasket you put on your trans should be reusable type ($)and installed bone dry (as we are here in AZ). Best policy for any trans pan on any vehicle BTW. Factory may use 'silicone' on the assembly line and the stuff then makes filter change job unnecessarily complicated. Stuff is used as factory assembly time saver and will get vehicle through warranty. May end up having tech ride shot gun with factory DRB scanner and check shifting. Computer will detect some shift problems and turn on Check Engine Light. Also, could be engine mounts as mileage is right for problems in that area. Power jack in driveway (carefully!) and check engine movement, drive and reverse. Warren Anderson Sedona,AZ ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Yahoo!
