Hi All; The bottom line here is that a "new" vehicle has not been created. The "re-body" merely replaces one that wasn't re-build-able. It's all a matter of degree. Owner A replaces the quarters with the ones the club had made, replaces the floor and trunk pans, adds the front clip off of a Windsor, the trunk lid and surrounding edge due to too much rust in the edge, and the doors, and now has only the cabin left. He then replaces the upholstery with the Club supplied interior, has the door panels and dash pad redone, and adds a headliner. He rebuilds the engine, trans, (maybe doing some mods along the way) and rear. With new drums, wheels, tires and complete brakes, we're nearly done. Let's put in a correct wiring harness from Gregg Leggatt, and paint this original car. Now this proud owner can sit back and point his finger at owner B who "re-bodied" his 300. I don't quite get it, B just replaced one more part (the cabin) than A. Hopefully, transferring every part that he could, to do the "restoration". And when it gets to the Auction, owner A isn't saying a word about what all has been. He'll be scarce so he doesn't have to answer questions and collect the big money. No matter what the owners original intention was, or whichever way they did it, at the end of the road, those big dollars get real important! And that is where this goes wrong, not being very clear on what all was "restored" at the time and point of sale. And if owner B "fesses up" and takes a hit on value, the new owner will some day happily sell his "restored" car, for full value. 300 l'y, Ray > > To send a message to this group, send an email to: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx For list server instructions, go to http://www.chrysler300club.com/yahoolist/inst.htm Yahoo!
