Hello Club Members: Having bought & sold ~500 eBay items (eBay name: jdokos1) ... My opinion is: NEVER, NEVER buy anything more than a couple hundred bucks from somebody with a feedback number under 50! Don't buy ANYTHING at all, from someone with 0 feedback. Zero feedback eBay'rs should buy 10 items before selling one. If not, they're not legit. Don't be their one. These are the odds. Look often, be tempted, but do have restraint. Don't bid unless you are willing to loose your bid amount or down payment, travel and pay cash in person, or default on the auction. When selling and anybody with ZERO feedback offers you a side deal on one of your items, place their eBay name on your Blocked Bidders List, immediately. Now ... Me being positive: I buy EVERYTHING on eBay! Rather not shop local and pay sales tax. Today, shipping is less than tax for all but very heavy items. Never again, will I buy from a local car dealer. In the last 40 days on eBay, I sold a 26' fully-optioned race car trailer, an '02 300m Special, 3 motorbikes, 15 old car parts and 6 household items, all just taking up time and space. During the same time, we also purchased another 8-10 items. What a country! "I love eBay." Understand the medium. What appeared to be a completely legitimate sale of a really nice looking '57 New Yorker turned out to be a scam. The only identifying factor was that the seller had 0 feedback. There was no buy-it-now or goofy email address with a demand for contact....it seemed completely legitimate and was without reserve. I am forwarding the information I received from Ebay....some of you might have seen the ad although it was only up for about 10 hours. The seller was purportedly from Colorado. the car was no reserve, the nomenclature and general tone was of someone who knows what they are talking about with respect to collector cars (they used the term '10-footer) and also gave very detailed information as to the restorative work done to the car over the last 13 years or so. They had good imagery as well and were knowledgeable about these cars in general. I had sent the seller an email asking them to contact me prior to the end of the auction because they had zero feedback. I have not heard from him/her.
