Glad you brought up the '57 Chevy/300B claim on the first 1 for 1 engine. In the 1980s I wrote many letters to car magazines telling about the 300B option whenever they made much praise of the '57 Chevy 1 for 1. I also mentioned that we must not leave out the 300's cousin, the DeSoto Adventurer for 1957 as being, I believe, the first American production car with a 1 for 1 engine as the one and only powerplant. I also threw in the '57 300's 392/390 option as being close enough to count as a bullseye.
