[Chrysler300] Hot Rod 1955 C-300 Tango Red

The new issue (March 2006) of "Hot Rod" magazine is definitely worth
picking up and not just for the Challenger Concept story (picture of the
car on front cover).

Rather, the story of interest to us all will be about Alan Kalter's Tango
Red 1955 C-300 . Hot Rod gave 6 whole pages to that car (pages 52 thru 58
) .

All I can say is "wow" . Mr. Kalter and the shop that did the car, Hot Rods
& Custom Stuff in Escondido, CA managed to keep the stock, beautiful
appearance of the 300B, both outside body and interior, and yet at the same
time turn it into a screaming hot rod. While it's kind of sad to see an
original C-300 extensively modified, this one is extremely tastefully done.
There's a 528 Hemi from Indy Cylinder Head with fuel injection rated 720 hp
/ 640 lb-ft torque; 727 torqueflite with Gear Vendors overdrive; Currie 9"
rear; 1995 Chevy Impala front clip; 13" discs in front and 12" discs in
rear, and real cool 17" wire wheels that look so original. The coolest
modification of all has to be the adaptation of Chrysler Imperial power
window mechanisms to work with the original window cranks !

And, despite all of these modifications, the car looks bone stock ! I'd
sure love to get a ride in this C-300 ! Really good pictures, make sure you
pick up Hot Rod and check out this story !
