> I had to replace my alternator on my G. The replacement I was given has two field terminals and no ground terminal. The one that I just took off has one field terminal and one ground wire. Will this work??? > > > Joey Might not want to trade your old part. Good original rebuildable alternators are hard to come by. Part you bought will work. Alternators after MY 1970 were solid state regulator controlled and required an isolated field design. You could go away from original and retrofit the later design solid state regulator. Many benefits here. Replacement alternator probably is of higher output capacity than original design unit. This is good also. Replacement part you bought should have had instruction sheet with retrofit jumper wire. One field wire must now be jumper wire grounded to alternator case if you want to stay with OE one wire regulator.
