Re: [Chrysler300] Winter Vacation - Taking the "G" Apart

Mark,

I would strongly recommend the blue plastic storage containers that Target (and others I'm sure) sells. I like the 14 gallon size as when full, they are not too heavy to move around. They stack nice and protect the parts better than cardboard boxes. I think I used between 8 and 10 of these for my G hardtop.

Also strongly recommend a lot of masking tape which is handy for grouping specific hardware together (like interior screws) because the placement of the hardware can be written.

Don't forget a breaker bar, or long pipe, pry bars and gear pullers.

Finally, I prefer beer as my disassembly lubricant. The empties come in handy for sticking the power steering, transmission and fuel lines into after disconnecting them. Keeps the mess to a minimum.

Lots of pictures, lots of pictures!

Best regards,

Richard Osborne

Well, some people go to warm climates for their winter vacation but I will be heading for beautiful Rockford Illinois to dismantle my G. After much though, I decided to go ahead with the complete repaint/restoration. Since I didn't want to miss out on any of the fun, I convinced my restorer to let me do the disassembly. So here is my question for this very knowledgeable group, what is missing from my list that I will need/want for the project?

Here is the list:

Digital Camera & Computer
Part/bolt bags
Marker
Wax pens
Socket set
Screwdrivers
Various pliers
Various wrenches/adjustable
Penetrating oil/WD 40
Buckets
Cardboard
Shoplights
Bailing wire
Misc Cleaners (Windex, chrome polish, etc)
Newspaper (for wrapping parts)

Also, I'm planning on filling up the hard drive with pictures. Maybe once it is back together there may be some shots work putting on the web site.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
