Thanks for all the help. It turns out that the prefix letter (P=1960) was
mostly obscured by the valley cover.

HI BRUCE & GROUP, THERE IS A PREFIX BEFORE THE 41, THAT WILL TELL US WHAT
YEAR IT IS. THE 41 IS THE 413 DESIGNATION. P, WOULD BE '60, R, WOULD BE '61,
S, WOULD BE '62, T= '63, V= '64, A='65. THE 10 21, IS THE DAY & MONTH OF
PRODUCTION. THE MALTESE CROSS IS .001" BEARINGS UNDERSIZE. THAT MOTOR WOULD,
MOST LIKELY, NOT BE FROM A LETTER CAR, SINCE THEY GOT THE BEST OF THE
BLOCKS, i.e. NO UNDERSIZE CRANK, OVERSIZE LIFTERS, OR OVERBORE. I HAVE CODE
BOOKS FOR MOST CARS. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS, I'LL BE GLAD TO HELP.

I have a 413 engine, which I removed from a donor car when restoring a 300E
many years ago, with casting number: 2120529-4 on the right side. The intake
manifold has casting # 1851898 and is a single four barrel. The machined
boss near the distributor has a 41 and at 90 degrees from those numbers it
has 1021 and a Maltese cross stamped into it.

Can anybody tell me what all this means?

It hasn't run in all the time I've owned it but it turns free. What would be
a fair price for it as is?
