Re: [Chrysler300] A/C Question

Michael, I would not change over to R- 134 . Freon R-12 is still
available on the market. It was not outlawed. My local NAPA store
sells it. You just have a license to buy it and use it. I would start
calling local AC repair people. They can still buy it and install it
legally. I bought a large tank of he R-12 clone HC-12C There are
several companies that sell it . I have used it not only in my cars but
all my friends and family. It is actually a little colder than R-12 so
you just don't top it off when installing it. It mixes with R-12. AS
far as your oil is concerned you only loose a very sm. minute amount of
oil when your Freon bleeds off over a long period. You only loose a lot
when you disassemble the system. Each component you replace like the
condenser you just add around 2 oz. Most repair manuals will tell you
how much oil to add for each part replaced. or if you rebuild the whole
system you put in the full amount for what your system calls for. They
have small canisters of oil you can add to your system when recharging.
Just to let you know our Federal Government still list R-12 as a legal
good and safe product to use. They only want it saved and recycled.
