Michael, I had this problem back in the '80s with my G. I tried different sealants but nothing held. Finally I removed the rams and brought them to a welding specialist. He had them for about a month and during that time he welded the aluminum around the wells and built them up. Once they were built up, he machined them flat and smooth. Mine had deteriorated to the point where the walls were thin and they kind of blew out at the top and I had the exhaust leak you described. Having said all that, I discovered a product a few years back that just may work for this application, and you don't need to remove the rams. It's called Pyro-Putty, and it would be worth a try. Here's the link: http://www.aremco.com/a15.html Check it out, it can be used on cast aluminum and iron. Exhaust gases are leaking between the cup and manifold on both sides, midway between the mounting bolts. The noise and "soot" generated by the leaks are irritating. Has anyone out there experienced this problem, and if so -- how was it corrected (if it was)? Thanks for any help.
