Hi John, Coker Tires and Diamond Back Classics are the two primary sources of radial wide white tires for our cars. I'm one of those who would tell you that Diamond Back sells superior tires to Coker. Radials as compared to bias plies require a minor adjustment change in your alignment settings. Every alignment shop should be familiar with this. There is no detrimental effect on your car with the exception of additional side stresses on very high mileage original steel wheels which may stress crack causing air leakage under heavy loading or in extreme cases, usually with quite rusty wheels, wheels have been known to split suddenly and disastrously. The person mounting the tires should have the sense to see and warn you of a seriously rusted wheel whether a bias or radial tire is being mounted Wayne Date: Wed, 29 Jun 2005 00:22:17 -0400 From: JPMODL@xxxxxxx Subject: Re: Wide whites on old cars-source? I was out driving the old Chrysler with bias ply tires, can we use radials as replacements or does this have a negative effect on our suspensions? Who carries these tires and have proven a good source?
