Oh the joy... Pull the speaker grill on top of the dash. Pull the speaker out. Then you can get your hand & a proper size wrench on the nut that holds the mirror base to the dash. What I cannot remember is if I pulled the A/C-Heater buttons to gain better access to the nut. Hmmm...or did I pull the radio? Well this is getting you nowhere fast. The bottom line is that the nut on the base of the mirror is large; 3/4", 11/16", something like that. Thus the wrench (or socket) will not be small enough to make it as easy as one would wish for. With all that said, it's not too bad of a job to do. If you hear of more than one good spare mirror base, please let me know as I could use one for my wagon.
