I feel your pain. I went to a local auto parts / auto supply store near where I live recently and asked for cotter pins. The kid said he had never heard of them and had no idea what they were. No one working in the store had ever heard of cotter pins. All young guys. I went to the shelf, found my package of cotter pins and showed them what they looked like. I think they needed "training". I love the fast food employees here who do not know the parts of a chicken in English ie leg, wing etc and then get mad at you when they can't understand your order like you are a stupid American or something.
