You were looking at 300C VIN # 001. It was the first C built as well as being the first 300 convertible ever built since none were built in '55 or '56. J code paint was "Gunmetal Gray Metallic" and that is the ONLY 300C that was painted that color from the factory. It is indeed unfortunate that the car was not restored to its original specifications in this particular case. Did you happen to get photos of the data plate, VIN plate, or anything else about the car. And the owner/gentlemen's name was?
