Plugs were fouling as discussed earlier(1-10-05). Spinning engine with plugs removed, leaving it sit overnight and re-installing plugs they remained dry. I have seen this often before when I lived in cold country and trying to start a stubborn vehicle. Once a plug gets fuel or oil coated they are toast and removing and cleaning and drying out the cylinders is all that will give a clean environment. Very likely in initial attempts to start, with possibly timing way off and moving distributor around, there was a lot of pumping of the accelerator going on also. Those dual Carter's are like flushing a toilet.
