Mark, I recently reset my odometer on my 62 by gently removing the pin with the gears on it, and rolling the numbers by hand by turning the gear on the barrel. It worked in either direction, so if yours shows less than the original, you can advance it and if it shows more, you can set it back. Just be careful not to lose the little bushings on the top and bottom of the gear pin. When you re-install the pin, bend the aluminum retaining tab enough to eliminate the play, but not too tight so it doesn't bind. If you remove the barrel with the numbers on it, you'll have difficulty lining up the numbers when you re-install it.
