Re: [Chrysler300] Brake question

Jonathan,

My 66/300 originally had 4-wheel drum brakes with 14" wheels. I took a
complete front disc setup off a '70 New Yorker including spindles,
porportioning valve and front brake lines. They essentially bolted right in.
Like John Hertog says in his message, the distribution block has to be
abandoned. I got a dual master cylinder from NAPA and bolted it right to the
old booster. It took a little fiddling with the brake pushrod to get it to
the right length (it's adjustable), so as not to block the compensating port
in the master cylinder. The rotors are too large to fit into 14" wheels, so
I had to get a set of 15-inchers.

If you want to stay with drum brakes, you could use the front lines and
porportioning valve from a donor car, or bend your own lines and use an
after-market porportioning valve on the line that goes to the rear.
