Your mission, should you accept it, it to help identify the mystery color. She was big, bold, beautiful. But someone changed the outer skin color. By the time this question is being raised, all that's left are the 2 doors, a grill, and the hood. We were told she was a 57 300-C, or at least a 57-58 300, didnt the inside door trim change in 59?? The grill has NO trace of red paint on it. We are looking for evidence of the holes for the "E" and "R". (yes I have my magnets (both weak and strong) going over it now as we type. She still bears the "C", "H", "R", "Y", "S", and "L". They are almost dead on where they should be on the hood and when you are facing them they look to be 90 degrees vertical orientation. Meaning they are not tilted left or right. There seems to be a strong indication that the "gold" looking paint is NOT the original. There is a definite reddish tint to the paint on the bottom side of the hood. They have been stored for a long time, and I have been spending the day cleaning off a LOT of dust and grime. IF anyone can assist in determining the original color from a digital picture. I can take it to the best of my ability and forward it to you. if you want to specify in bright sun, shade, both what ever helps to bring out the true color I'll try it. (Humm, better re-think that, not sure I want to buff and wax it). Thanks -- Paul Holmgren Hoosier Corps #33, L-6 2 57 300-C's in Indy
