Re; the trans leak, I recently had the same problem on my K and repaired the problem, externally, with a $1.00 seal. The rod that enters the trans at the highest point, kickdown as I recall, has an o-ring seal that can be replaced by fishing it out after disconnecting the rod. The seal is available at any transmission part shop and will stop your leak. I too was losing quarts of fluid before discovering this easy and common repair. This was the most difficult oil leak I ever went after and was ultimately cheap and easy to repair. The seal must be placed in correctly, so observe the orientation upon removal. I also found a repair for leaking/torn B&T boots. A friendly parts store owner let me shop through his CV joint boot parts and I located a Dorman universal boot that closely resembles ours. The boot can be cut to size ( I cut three coils from the small end and one coil from the large end), then slipped through the outer housing and over the ball to avoid removing the pin assembly. Grease the boot thoroughly before attempting this. The boot comes with securing straps. I just checked on part availability and for Dorman part number 614-001 and found that Rock Auto @ rockauto.com, 402 Gammon Pl. Suite #30, Madison, WI. 53719 has them in stock for $11.81 plus UPS ground. Their tool free number is 866-762-5288. If you use the web site, look under Motormite/Dorman products. Also, no one has mentioned that ball & trunion joints came in three different sizes. They were smaller for the Valients, etc. So if you see one at a swap meet, make sure it is the correct size for our brutes. I already made this mistake. 300ly, Mike Wenrich La Crescenta, Ca.
