The best one I've used is the Porter-Cable Random Orbital buffer. It has a speed control and will not burn your paint no matter how hard you press.

Anyone have thoughts on a good power buffer. I've been told they should be around 1200 to 1400 rpm. Also what is good for stripping off any old wax build ups before waxing ?
