Its about time to do something with wheels and tires for my '57 300C Road America competition model. Most of you won't be familiar with this car as being one of three special ordered by Carl Kiekhaefer (CK) for the NASCAR road racing series which was cancelled after the car was built. Its the only one extant and restoration is ongoing. Anyhow, it came with "Imperial suspension" which means in part that it has '57 Imperial brake drums with the 5 lug on 5.5" bolt circle and 3.75" center hole and the car wore 14x7" Imperial wheels when CK picked it up at the factory. It was shortly changed to '55-56 Imperial wheels which are 15x6.5" which wore 8.90x15" tires. My question to any '57-58-59 Chrysler or DeSoto (exc. Firesweep) owner, who would have the same wheel well dimensions, is what is the maximum tire width and diameter you have put on your car and if using a non-stock wheel, what backspacing does your wheel have? If you "maxed-out" the tire and wheel combinations differently front and rear, then I'd like all dimensions. Thanks!
