The 300Cs did have chassis weaknesses in the area of the idler arm bracket and rear upper control arm bracket (driver's side is worse). Don't fault the tires whether radials or bias plys. Fault the engineering. This is not to say they all cracked but in cities, such as Chicago, where potholes were more the rule than the exception, expect the cracks. In western states you will be hard pressed to find a C frame with the problems. So the engineering was not bad really, it just wasn't up to the awful streets in some areas. Considering torsion bar suspension at Chrysler was brand new at the time, the fact that these problems were overcome in one year is more of a credit to Chrysler engineering than a debit.
