I would expect that your car must have fairly high mileage accumulation or perhaps spent too much of its life with imbalanced tires that could lead to fatigue failure. I am assuming there are no corrosion issues. Then again, the 57s never had much structural robustness to begin with - which can't help, even on the hardtops.
