Ryan, Check out PPG's website. They give detailed instructions on color sanding and polishing. I followed it ver batum and got good results (mine is black). In a nutshell, don't rush the sanding or polishing. The more time you spend sanding and polishing now, the happier you'll be when you see the car in the sunlight with all the trim on it. Use foam pads on your buffer, they are not as aggressive as wool. Maybe someone else can advise you on doing silver, I haven't done any metallic cars yet.
