Can some one enlighten me/us as to what the heck this is all about and who
rained on who's parade and for how many cookies? I am parting out a J and
hope that I have not P.Oed someone with a part or price thereof. If I have
please contact me privately first and I will resolve it as best I
can -before you go to the club webserver- and if still unhappy I guess I
am
fair game. I believe we can be adults here and not result to this kind of
thing. This reminds me of what I deal with at work everyday in Law

ALL

Lauren-
If your battery tray is the same as the J- I just went out and looked
at it- There is a brace on it that looks like the one you describe. One
end
bolts to the bottom of the rear of the tray and the other(smaller bolt
hole)
bolts to the upper control arm bracket/brace. Hope this helps you out.

Hello All...

                         I've got a nearly complete A/C setup for a '64
model. Condenser, hoses, dryer, lines, expansion valve, boxes on the
engine
side, air ducts and boxes in the passenger compartment, dash control
buttons, vents etc. If anyone is looking for everything ( I dont want to
separate it ) please email me privately.
Thanks

Kelly, Lenny, and all...

Once in a great while, guys, someone says something that he and she
probably
should not have said publicly. With regards to the specific message Kelly
refers to, this appears to have been the case. Most likely, the sender
meant
to reply to whoever personally, and not through the listserver. At least,
this is what we hope happened.

Please let it go at that. The listserver has been working as intended
recently, for the exchange of relevant information pertaining to our cars
.
There's enough strife in the world as of late, let's keep peace on our
listserver.

Thank you.

John Hertog

Well said John. A few years ago the National Desoto Club chat room was
shut down because of this very thing. It is up again and all messages are
approved before being posted. What a shame if this list server that
provides a wealth of information for all of us were to meet the same fate.

Anyone know the gross weight of a 413 put together with the heads,
intake & exhaust manifolds?

Just wanting to know where to set the load adjustment on the engine
hoist I have.

My choices are:

- 1000 pounds

- 2000 pounds

- 3000 pounds

- 4000 pounds

Thanks,

Matt Allyn

A 413 would be around 700 pounds.
That must be some engine hoist, 4000 pounds, should lift the entire car!

Subject: Bracket Thanks

Hi All and thanks for responding to "problem"

Yes, You are winners!!!

The Bracket that I had the question about was the rear battery
tray support. From the Rearmost hole on tray to the upper
of the two holes on the front upper "A frame" support of the frame.

Once I had the tray installed, just started searching for holes
below the tray. ( I was looking above the tray prior to installing
the tray) 4 years in the parts boxes dulls the memory.

Thanks for the help,

Subject: G Choke and Parking Brake

Good Morning,

Now that I am home and with the car AND the Service Manuals AND the G
Supplement, I am rebuilding the carburetors. The choke pot on the left
side carb (2903S) has the Choke Piston frozen in the open position. I
see the technique for "Indexing the Choke Piston" in Group 14 of the
Service Bulletin for the G. I do not understand exactly what this is
for, and I do not think this can help free the piston. Am I wrong? Have
you ever encountered this? Should I soak it in PB Blaster to try and
free it?

Question 2. What is the recommended thinkness of the brake shoes on the
parking brake? I cannot find this in the manuals and mine look thin
(1/8" max). Based on certain things, this car may have lead a rough life
from time to time (Power slides by locking the parking brake?) prior to
me.

Thanks,

Richard Osborne

I was looking through a October 1959 Popular Science and saw a mention of
a
Chrysler Windsor X-3, 383 with 2-4's. Were these ever built? They were
2-tone only, red/white or red/black. Hmmmm....
