This was a procedure where two pieces of a cadaver bone were attached to his existing bone and three stainless cables were used to hold it all together. This was done as the original surgery done earlier this year after his break has not gone well and the bones are not mending. The surgeon has told him there is a 70 to 80% success rate with this procedure. If by chance this does not make everything heal up the next option is to remove the hip, femur and knee and replace all with stainless steel. Doesn't sound like much fun to me. Wayne's spirits are good and he hopes to be returning home to Kerrville, Texas in a few days. They will be driving so he is not sure exactly how long it will take as he doesn't know how long he will be able to ride per day. He ask that you do not send e-mail to him as he will be bombarded with existing messages already there. Once he is home he will advise all of you. Also he ask for your support and prayers through this ongoing process. I can ask about having duplicates made by El-Mar paints in Haverhill, MA (they will put it in spray cans), but I know someone indicated that there is not necessarily consistency between cans of the Plasti Kote itself. Also, the paint would not be heat resistant, but perhaps this would OK for cooler running Wedges (the Plasti Kote can says good to 500 degrees - I don't know what regular enamel would be good to, but I would think it would be near that ). The biggest problem area would probably be the heat crossovers on the 4 barrel manifolds and in-line quad manifolds. Maybe Tower would be the better way to go (more of a mass-producer than the paint shop near me). This would be especially true if there is a "Holy Grail Sample" of original Chrysler Turquoise that someone has to give to them for duplication purposes. Thanks for all the help, BTW!!! Hello all, I've asked this before, but got no responses. What is a good chemical to use to keep my "rim blow" horn rubber soft? This is a good used one that i got recently. My old one was hard and cracked into pieces. I'd hate for this to happen again. I know that using Armor-All is out of the question. I would like to identify whether it's a Sure-Grip limited slip or not. I was told locally that the 'pumpkin' has a distinctive shape on the Sure-Grip type. Also, is there an external marking that will tell me what the ratio is, or do I just count the number of input vs output turns with both wheels off the ground? I bought the dual point from the owner who had replaced it w/ an Accel unit. Although I never saw the original interior (it was replaced w/ white diamond tuft by 1969 or so), I think it was a white vinyl interiored car when delivered new. The owner of the car owned a Chevron Station in Greenlawn, NY and it was definitely a car that, even in those days, was a head turner (especially when it went down Jericho Turnpike and you expected it to shift automatically and then you heard otherwise...that was my first encounter with it). If anyone has this car, I can give you more info on it...I think it was one of those vehicles that may have survived, given it's uniqueness and the attention it received in the late 60's and early 70's...And then again, may be overly optimistic! There may be a tag on one of the studs that attach it to the housing that lists the ratio, or "use limited slip lube only". If you turn one axle, the other should turn in the same direction if it's sure-grip equipped. The most accurate way to tell ratio would be to remove the chuck, it's stamped on the ring gear. 300ly, Don ----- Original Message ----- From: John Spiers <spiers@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, December 19, 2002 4:48 PM Subject: [Chrysler300] identifying Sure-Grip vs Non-Sure Grip rear ends > > Hi all- > > I have a complete rear end assembly from a '64 C-body.
