Reproduction of these housings is performed in Sweden, in sheet metal, punched with professional tooling I would guess, and surely the closest you will get in appereance if you can´t find a set of used ones. Also new door sill plates (duplicates 57-59, with 300-logo but also other types like correct for Adventurer, D500 N:Y) are made by the same people and those are in aluminium. True pieces of art. To my knowledge these parts are also made available in the US but unsure about where at this point. For those of you interested you can leave your e-mail or phone number with me and I´ll ask the producers; fellow 300 (F) owner Bengt Busk, or Jan Friberg, to make contact to you directly and reply on availability in the US, prices, quality etc. ++ Anyone in the LA area who already did a check on a -61 Newport for sale on the E-bay lately? I´d love to share someones detailed opinion about this car sold by Robert Zymet although it´s just a regular Newport. rgds Ulf Larsson, Sweden 3N57 2660 ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 2 Date: Mon, 14 Oct 2002 11:25:35 -0700 From: "MGalassi" <C300lover@xxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Town & Country radio Hi, I am looking for a town& county 6 volt for my 55 300. Mike Laiserin's fiberglass housings are a much cheaper alternative to "correct" metal air cleaners. There are many people putting crossrams on hot rods and other cars that never had them from the factory, and, for them, the fiberglass units will be a great plus. Or for the budget-conscious. The fiberglass units are about half the price of the metal repro units, when sold thru the Club. Yes, I have seen ( and bought) some of John Friberg's repros, and they are indeed superb. The only problem is that they are not currently available. I spoke to John Friberg last week, and he told me that he would once again make some more, but not immediately. When the time comes, I am sure the Club will order another batch of both the round and the ovals. John Friberg is aware of this.
