Hi all
I 'm unable to find a u-joint repair kit for a 1956
chrysler 300b, I'm talking about the front u-joint that
looks like a cv joint.I have part # from different brands
like Detroit, Spicer, Napa ,and Neapco but no auto parts
stores I went to in the Miami area are able to locate the
part. The poeple from Neapco said their part# is longer
supplied.Does anybody know a source for it?
I'm also trying to find windshield wiper blade refills
for 56 and 58 chrysler. Does anybody know what current
part # could fit these cars?

The place to be getting camshaft recommendations, especially for modified
engines is with the cam manufacturers themselves. They have the technical
personnel to handle these types of questions. There are far to many
variables for anyone to recommend a specific cam unless there set-up is
identical. Try Comp Cams, Crane, or one of the others.

Just wanted to say "Thanks" to everyone from the lists who responded to my
queries regarding my speedometer and power window switch problems. I got
plenty of replies. Soon as they're finished at the shop replacing my ring
gear and I get my u-joint replaced I'll take my C300 in for the speedometer
repair. I received plenty of encouragement to repair the power window
master switch myself but with my lack of experience and limited schedule I
managed to prod a friend of mine who is into electronics to take a shot at
the switch.
Thanks again.

Call the folks at Comp Cams, 901-795-2400. They are very helpful. Helped me work out a streetable cam for a 340 six pack without a high buck stall converter.
Have your torque converter info for him and your rear end ratio.

groove automotive was close to deciphering my mis-worded question. sorry
about the confusion. i need to know if anybody knows the specs like overlap,
duration, lobe centerline, etc. these are critical as i am told for teh rams
to work like designed. i know i have to keep a 268 adv duration, as i am
guessing it had, which is where i need help. what are the numbers so i can
keep and change , like groove said. i am not sure if it was a 268, but i
figure the lift is ok to increase, especally with edelbrocks. a 108 was
recommended by someone in the club tech, but the other numbers i dont know. (
they are not in my factory tech manual, only lift and journal daimeters or
something. was it a 268, and what is the lobe centerline, lda, etc. they have
no clue at teh cam manufactures and it means the difference of teh rams
working in tune with the cam and getting 20 ish % increase in power or
nothing. and i need the power for the street. PLEASE ANYONE !!!!
thank you for responding though, thanks all

Yeah, but give Jay his due, He drives ALL his cars. Every single day he
picks a different one to drive to the studio, and he is often seen around
the area driving one of his "Perfect Cars". Or so I'm told. He might have
the deep pockets, but the cars he buys aren't buried in some warehouse,
never to move again.

Subject: Re: 64 300k camshaft part 2
It would be my opinion that you should leave the duration alone, if indeed
it is 268, which sounds reasonable to me. The lift however, can go up to
.509 providing you change out the valve lifter springs to some that allow
for the additional lift without binding the coils prematurely. Actually
going to a solid (adjustable) lifter valve train would be an even superior
choice over the factory hydraulic setup you presently have.
Then acquire a 3.54 suregrip rear end, a performance shift kit for that
torqueflite to tighten up the shifts and some sticky tires on the rear
wheels and you should have a reasonably formidable ride for the "streets".
You may not yet be able to take on a 5.0 Stang, but I bet for the first 75
feet or so, you're going to scare the bejeezus out of him. Especially from
a roll.
