We received our 300 D Model from Danbury Mint, it is a fine representative

model. Jack Wiltse's car was used as an example and he worked with
Danbury
Mint for 1 1/2 years. If you like 58's this is a must.

Jack Wiltse

Hello Guys.

I have a small problem with my G.
Sometimes when I try to start up my engine it just don't start, it runs
and runs but not fireing up.
I have replaced the ignition lock but there was not any change, I have
controlled all cabels and
there is not any lose ends. Very often when I start the engine, it
fireing up just when I disconnect
the starter with the key and sometimes I have to open the hood and start
it with a screwdriver,
shortcutting the relay and it start immedeatly when I do so. It is just
like the power don't go
out to the sparkplugs when I connect the starter with the key. The
battery is new and I have
tryed with different batterys, that is not the problem. It is like the
starter take all the power and there
is not enough for the sparks. This is not all the time, only sometimes.

Any ideas???????

                               Johan ( 300-G Conv. )

Johan; Sounds like you might have the answer. Start with the basics, check
the starter draw, and available voltage. If it starts wien you release the
key, the coil gets enought voltage while the motor is still spinning, and
fires. You can attach a volt meter at the coil and watch the voltage while
you are cranking to confirm the loss. Or a use a test light.
Then use the volt meter at each connection along the path to the starter.
It
might be in the main electrical block at the firewall (if there is one) or
at any plug connector along the way. The relay can be bad and drawing all
available voltage just to make the connection inside.
Let us know how it turns out, Ray Jones

Subject: Displaced 300C Motors

Piggy-backing on Mike Vath's recent post, I'd be willing to create a
database of 300C engines that are separated from their original chassis.

This would be for motors with identifying numbers beginning "3NE57 _ _ _
_" from 300Cs only.

I'm looking for motors that:
a.. are in your car but are not original to your car
b.. are under your bench as "spares"
c.. that you learned about in someone else's garage
d.. that you spotted in someone's completed hot rod or custom
In my database, which will be organized by motor number, I'd like to add
as much of the following info as possible:
  a.. owner's name
  b.. owner's address
  c.. owner's phone
  d.. owner's e-mail address
  e.. complete or incomplete
f.. for sale or not for sale
g.. if in another car; what is the car
The reason for this database is to help restorers locate the original
motor for their car(s).

Wayne

The first few responses are in.
I realize now that I will also have to keep info on the cars that are
missing their original motor.
Obviously as this grows, the displaced motor owner's will learn where that
motor came from, and eventually, the cars without original numbered motors
may find where their motor ended up.

I don't intend to be the intermediary that will insist the original block
now in a restored '60s drag race gas coupe Willys with a 671 GMC
supercharger should be pulled out so you can trade him the 331 with single
quad currently resting in your chassis. I'll let y'all work that out
yourselves! I'm just the messenger!

Wayne
