To add to the previous message on 57-59 body panels:

The proposed plan is to have, at this time frame, 30 pair made. These
are
being made in huge metal dies. The die will have an indefinite life. More
will and can be made as there are demands in the future. But they will be
made then in a group of 15 pair at a time. Future costs will rely upon
labor
and material costs, like anything else. One good thing, is that they will
also fit DeSotos, and some Dodges.

I have been running my 1966 300 with 440 TNT for years
with the heat riser fixed in the hot position. I used
to experience some plug fouling if I didn't get out on
the highway regularly, but that problem totally
vanished when the lead was taken out of the gas.

  Quarter Panel Committee,

Would you list the Chrysler,Desoto, and Dodges models the quarter panels
will fit?

I would assume the 1/4 panels would fit all Chrysler and Desoto 2 dr
hardtops,would this also

include the Dodge 2 dr hardtops??

Demand could be more than anticipated ??

Any chance of a Chrysler '55-'56 1/4 panels being reproduced??

F and G panels are also under consideration in the future, but with the
current project at hand, it will be a little while before it is developed.
With the '62, '63 and '64s needing these panels also, comparisons will
have
to be made if these can become a common panel for them. All good things
take
time and we want them to be correct.

Hi Bob:

Put me on the waiting list for quarter panels for my F. My hat goes off to
the restoration committee for this effort.

Subject: Torsion Bar Installation Revisited

I am going through a set of Chryco (Canada) technical service bulletins I
recently purchased. You will recall that many months ago we had a lengthy
discussion string regarding the proper installation of torsion bars and
considerable dialogue regarding whether an individual bar could be
installed
in either direction SO LONG AS a right side bar stayed on the right side
and
same for the left.

Here is the answer in print from Bulletin #289 dated April 26, 1957 for
all
Chrysler Corp. vehicles:

"It is important that each spring be installed on its respective side of
the
vehicle, i.e., the spring marked "L" on the left side and the spring
marked
"R" on the right side.

It is "suggested" (quotes are theirs) that the end of the torsion spring
with the "L" or "R" marking be installed in the lower control arm. The
only reason for installing the spring in this manner is to place the part
number at the rear, making it possible to identify the spring without
removing it from the car.

The torsion spring can be installed with either end toward the front
because
reversing the spring does not make any physical difference."

full. can i get mine fixed? or does anyone have a good one for sale?
Thanks for all the help!

Pete Fitch has made me aware that my first post about nailing down carpet
may have gone out for some unknown reason without text. Here is the text
if
you did not receive it.

******************

I can't recall whether the nailing down of carpets from the factory was
something discussed on this list or whether it was a question from an
individual however I have found an answer.

Chryco (Canada) service bulletin # 361 (Nov. 27, '57) and 361A (Jan. 16,
'58) cover this.

In 361 it talks about using drive nails to keep the carpet in alignment
and
prevent wrinkling but does not indicate this was done at the factory.

In 361A it states that "The glove box of models equipped with carpet-type
floor mats now contains a package of six drive nails for this purpose." A
non-dimensioned diagram of the floor indicates that the four of the drive
nails are to be positioned
along the edge of the two-piece carpet underneath the back of the front
seat
where the front foot well carpet overlaps the rear carpet, one in each
outer
corner and one each about 2/3rds of the way across toward the driveshaft
hump. The remaining two drive nails are shown placed in front of the
front
seat near the outer floor edge before it rises to the door sill.

So apparently these drive nails were not installed in the floor at the
factory but starting in mid-January of '58 they were in a package (likely
a
manila envelope - my guess) in the glove box.

I don't know how long that practice may have continued from January of '58
but I do know that it is very common to find these nails through the
floorboards of '57 through '61 letter cars. Can anyone comment on earlier
or later carpeted Chryslers?

Wayne

Does anyone know what the carter numbers are supposed to be on the
`1955
C300 ? And if they are the same front and rear - or not ?

   Thanks, Sean.

The brass tags on my Carters both read 2317. Other than the vacuum hole
being plugged on the front carb, they both are identical.

Hello to the gang-

I have taken carpet out of alot of Chrysler products over the years and
can remember only two that had nails or tacks in them. One was a 61
Newport and the other was a 57 Windsor. At the time I thought this was
something that a previous owner or possibly a dealer had done to "fix"
loose or wrinkled carpet. I guess now I know. I have not found this in
any one I have worked on after 1961 model year. Joe Pierce 300 K

"treatment" is MORE Chryslers......)

The carburetor # 2317 appear to be correct as confirmed by John Peabody's
e-mail for both front and rear C300 - 1955.
