Ugh, you're making me feel old. ;-)
Back in the good old days, as they say, there was a great place called Wakefield Brake, aka Stopping Products, in Wakefield, MA. I lived in the next town. Whenever I needed a brake job, I would bring all my brake shoes and drums to them. They would very lightly resurface the drum faces (not actually turn them, but remove as little material as possible), reline the original shoes, arc them to fit the drums, and return them all looking like new for about $100 total for all 4 wheels. That was the late 1980's/early 1990's. I couldn't even suggest the existence of any such place nowadays. Sad. There must be some places still offering such services, but if so, they are unknown to me.
