Last night I looked at Bob Merritt’s tech page on headlight switches. Good info there. Marshall Larson did the change to 1962 style for his F. He discovered that you have to tie the power terminals together on the 1962 style if using it for 60-61. So this morning I played around with this on a 1961 Newport.
-- Here is how that one ended up working out, in case anyone is interested: The wiring: I (instruments), orange/purple D (dash bulbs), pink H (headlamps), green R (rear tail lamps), black P (parking lamps), yellow B1 and B2 (battery power), red with black stripe, tie both with an adapter or jumper. ![]() B1 feeds H when the knob is pulled out both stops, H feeds the center blade of the dimmer foot switch, from there it travels through the bulkhead to the headlights. Marshall said that he used Glarks piggyback adapters to tie B1+B2. I made an adapter wire just for trying it out, and that worked too. Alternately you could use a 1/4 double blade adapter with a double female jumper. ![]() If you had to modify the knob shaft: ![]() ![]() Thanks to Marshall, and as always to Bob M and John Grady- D&K Sent from my iPhone On Apr 22, 2026, at 21:41, dave mason <forwardlook300@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:
