RE: {Chrysler 300} 64 washer bag question

My Car when I got it a could of years ago was a 97K mile original car.  Even the paint.

This car had a washer that had a clip on the front of the motor, and it connected to the bottom of the bag which had a reinforced hole.

WOW. Thanks, Charlie for all of this information.

Not to drive this to the extreme, yet I find that in the1964 the parts book it shows one pump across the product lines, 2495 540. Which when I find an NOS on eBay, these do not have the square hole. They are also noted with an asterisk, denoting use as needed.

So did the factory just decide to let the washer bags hang free as time went on? Or was there some other method to secure the bottom of the larger bag on C bodies?

The 1st photo shows an original pump and clip. I should be easy to cut a hole in the pump with a Dremel tool. It may be wise to remove the cover before you cut into it. It should also be not too difficult to make a retainer clip similar to the original clip.

The 2nd photo shows two original pumps. The one without the hole would be for the washer system with the vacuum foot pump. That bag was not attached thus there is nothing hanging from the bottom of the bag to accept a clip.

The 3rd photo shows what the foot operated vacuum pump bag and cap looks like . There is no motor for this system. a hose goes right into the top of the cap and then feeds to the washer nipples.

The 4th photo shows the components of the washer system with the electric pump. In the photo the bottom of the bag is folder under so you can see the gromet to accept the clip.

Attached are photos of an original washer pump and the clip that holds the bottom of the bag to the pump.

I didn't include a photo of the bracket to hang the bag. The bracket is the same for both systems.

So does the washer bag hang only from the top bracket, or was there some kind of lower bracket? Nothing showing up in the parts book.

I ask as the lower brass ferrule has some abrasions on it, so seems to have been secured at some time.

Again, the original pump was replaced with a cheap plastic pump in the past. I just installed a replacement style pump. Now the reservoir ferrule is positioned right over the new pump.
