We've had considerable discussion of this topic over the years, and it's memorialized in our archived 300 Club emails. The net consensus has been to avoid lithium grease products, as this grease will harden over time, especially over the long many years we hold custody of our Letter Cars and other special cars. You may want to spend a couple hours perusing these.

I received an NOS cable assembly for the 64 300.  It has correct rubber plug to seal into firewall.

 

In the past  I hung it vertically and squirted Kroil down thru the sheathing and cable.

 

I can remove new cable and apply Lithium or Never Seize products. 

 

What would be best for wire cable lubrication.
