Re: {Chrysler 300} Window gaskets

Do not cut or damage the original gaskets when removing the glass. Soak them in lanolin until they are soft and pliable again. A common source for lanolin is mechanics hand cleaners like Gojo.(ensure it has lanolin) I like the large tubs they sell as refills for wall mounted pump machines in mechanical shops; the product without pumice.

I start by brushing it on heavily and keeping it in a plastic bag or bin. Keep treating it until it becomes soft and supple again. For me, the worst dried out and hard seals (from a California car) took several months of sitting and soaking to restore but they came back and cleaned up like near new. I did those ones 23 years ago and they’re still nice to this day.

If you’ve already damaged your originals, I’d start looking for a parts car to get them from. And those of you who have parts cars and are removing glass, keep in mind there is/will be value in the gaskets not just the glass.

For 57 and later Mopars, all the repro windshield and back glass gaskets are poor quality. For your 300G, you will have to reuse your gaskets.
