Other Things to Do
300 drivers, owners, and fans,
Lastly, I cover other things that might take your fancy:
- Buffalo Bisons Baseball: Triple A affiliate of the Toronto Bluejays, play August 12-17th at home against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Phillies). Inexpensive and a nice family friendly ballpark right downtown. Check out their MLB.com website.
- Art Session at the Buffalo Botanical Gardens, August 13, 4:00 PM: Explore our beautiful gardens under a 67 foot dome housing tropical palms and other plants. Artists are being invited to find inspiration at the conservatory. About 15 minutes south of the hotel.
- Fleetwood Mac Tribute Concert: August 13, 5:00 PM, the new Larkin Square 2 miles from downtown, seasonal events venue in a reimagined outdoor square. Food, fun.
- Western New York Southtowns Scenic Byway: This is Western New York's only area byway, encompassing 108 miles in a loop. Starting in Orchard Park near the Bills Stadium and heading 35 miles south to Ellicottville, a quaint touristy spot known for its food, entertainment, and breweries. A map of the byway will be included with your meet packet.
FINAL NOTES:
- Our Hospitality Room will be open in our Staybridge Suites (formerly Hawthorne Suites by Wyndham) hotel on Wed Aug 13 at 2 PM.
- Want to Extend your trip a bit? Ron is offering those who want to stay after the 11 AM bus tour/checkout on Sunday to join me on a trip to the southtowns to see the new Buffalo Bills Stadium (under construction, 60% complete) and for lunch at Danny's South. The stadium is about 20 minutes south of the hotel, and lends itself especially well for those driving and traveling either south or west from our meet. If you are traveling north or east, this would only add that amount of time to your return trip.
Registration in? Hotel booked? Car tuned up? See you next month as you shuffle off to Buffalo!
I have to get out of here as I am getting ready to leave for the Carlisle All Chrysler Nationals Wednesday morning, celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Chrysler! From Buffalo, a 281 mile trip. Look forward to seeing some of you there. Jamie should already be on his way as he indicated he was going to take the WPC Club tour Wednesday and meet up with Hank Hallowell and others!
All the 300 best!
Ron Klinczar, on behalf of Jamie Hyde and Bob Merritt
