{Chrysler 300} 300-F Heater Box Re-assembly

Have some questions about re-assembly of my 300-F interior heater box (non A/C car).  DIdn't take enough pictures when I took apart although cardboard was in rough shape.

Bought new cardboard from Quirey.  Fit seems reasonable will but will require a little work.

First question is about placement of one of the cardboard flaps WRT to interior of heater box.  Looks like heater box has a channel that flap will fit into.  Two of the pictures show the box and cardboard with items in question circled in red.  Does this flap go into this channel?  Is it folded over?  I guess it is providing a channel for heat to flow into cabin at feet but is kinda weird.

Second question is about a piece of cardboard that was included in order.   Rectangular shape with curved slotted section in middle - perhaps for some damper pathway.   Dave at Quirey wasn't sure where it went.  part of pattern.  Pattern encompasses multiple versions of box.  So curious if anyone knows where it goes and in what applications?

Thanks,
