Butyl rubber windshield tape. 10' roll so there is plenty. Roll/ stretch it to the right diameter ( about 3/16" is fine)  and simply press it on. Available at all of the big box auto part places and online. I use it on later car door plastic sheeting behind door panels too.

What have people used to mount heater boxes to firewall?  

I'm getting ready to install mine on my F.  When I cleaned up the heater box it had a thick gooey black tar like substance around the rim - I assume to ensure outside air and exhaust gases didn't seep into heater box.  Not sure if it was used around perimeter of heater core as well or not.

Leaning toward just using Permatex Ultra-black .. maybe overkill but remains somewhat pliable.

Thoughts?
