Hello all,
I rebuilt the carbs on our H, and used the gaskets that come in the kits (Napa 2-5424A) for the fuel inlet fittings. However, yesterday I noticed they slightly leak (both carbs, at the gaskets). Definitely leaking at the inlet gaskets (not the fuel block or hard line that joins them). I could visibly see it. I tightened the fittings with a 3/4” wrench and it did nothing to stop the leaks. I had the fittings so tight I cannot tighten further, because I took it all apart and noticed a little bit of an aluminum thread on one brass fitting (any tighter would have done damage to the carburetor aluminum).
So, wondering if any club members have experience with some better gaskets or thread sealer (gasoila e-seal? Permatex permashield?). Guessing gasoline will eat through Teflon tape, or at least tape could cause a mess to avoid getting pieces into carbs.
I’m not confident that Napa can get any different or better gaskets. These feel like a stiff thick paper.
