RE: {Chrysler 300} 300J and Ram 300K brake master cylinder.

In the video I sent around the other day, the guy fitted a new master cylinder to a 61 New Yorker and ran out of fluid - and brakes.  He then shows a copper washer he forgot to put on the plug.  I don’t know if this is what you are talking about.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdUKgNfu3eE

34:40 mark shows the washer

Hi Nick,

Use a 1963-64 manual brake master cylinder.  I got one from Rock Auto for my J in 2021, Centric brand.

It did not have an internal check vlalve, and so nothing needed to be removed.  Works fine.

They may have several choices now.  All made in China or Taiwan.

Might say "except J series."  Ignore that.

I do not have the lid leak issue on mine, as we found with the new F/G pb masters.

But the bottom port bolt/plug seems to leak a little fluid after being on the car awhile - no matter how tight or how it is sealed (teflon tape, thread sealer, whatever)

How the heck do we get those doggone things to not leak brake fluid?

Collecting up the parts to put the remote brake booster onto my ram 300K eventually.

In the parts book, it appears that the master cylinder is specific to the 300J and the ram 300K.

What are people using? I didn't get one with the car and not sure what it had on it when the previous owner got the car as it was partially converted to disc brakes.

Thanks, Nick
