matt ,

remember wiper motor will not work unless switch housing is grounded . Trying it like that causes motion but can burn up motor . ( there is no field connection to ground unless switch is mounted ) 

it is possible to plug on the switch connector  so it is in the wrong terminals ( yow!) 

as Rich said, the pins are all labeled by little letters embossed in the plastic .

on the car wiring diagram you see the colors by code that go to each pin in use . check it out .

On a similar ’64 Chrysler, that spade should have  a wire V6, a Dark Blue wire connected to it. That wire feeds power to the park connection on the wiper motor. Nearby should be wire V3, a black wire with white tracer that feeds the wiper motor armature.  These two wires are attached to a male two-wire connector which then plugs into a female two wire connector and wires emanating from the wiper motor. Wire colors there should match.

Sounds dumb, I know….

Should EVERY spade on the back of the switch have a wire plugged onto it?

I have a bare spade and a rogue wire under the dash.

I think the wire is Black or Dark Blue.

Here’s a picture of the switch (mostly) hooked up.
