Note second hole in filter. I also have cooling line filters, replacements that incluse parts if repair is needed. Rick

Hello Rick,

 

please beware! The early TF 727 have two oil pumps. Filter for later models only serve the front pump. So please only use the filter for the early 727.

 

The previous owner of my 1964 pushbutton 727 put the wrong filter in. It blocked the rear oil pump. The sprag ran dry. Overhaul cost 2 grand. Good news, it didnt break the case 😟

Hi Charlie,

Yes, it can be changed to the newer style. There are two types of the fiber filter, the one you need would have two intake holes like the original. One is for the front pump, and the smaller one for the rear pump. The rear pump was eliminated in 66.

In a 1962 727 Transmission can the original filter be replaced with the newer filter?

 

 It seems logical that the newer filter would filter much better than a wire mesh.
