For 1961 Chrysler offered a police package on the newly reintroduced Newport called the "Enforcer." It used the Dodge 325 HP 383 and all the police stuff including higher spring rates, anti-sway bars and the like. A wagon version was offered and the whole package lasted through 1964. 61 versions did not wear any "Newport" badging.
Massachusetts State Police used Chrysler wagons for at least one year.

Subject: Re: {Chrysler 300} Urban Legends
Question for the group:
> In 1972, I was hunting for some parts for a white 300K convertible we had at what was then a Mecca salvage yards in those days in Deer Park, Long Island ,NY. I spoke to the owner of one the yards and he spoke almost reverentially of some of the Chryslers that the New Jersey turnpike state police supposedly had as pursuit vehicles at that time in the early’60’s.
Does that ring a bell with anyone or is that just an “urban legend”?
