Re: {Chrysler 300} Regarding 300G convert

This is  why club membership and members are so important and our older long time members are so valuable. I fell foolish complaining about the seats in that Mecum G, that is the kind of information I should know, we should know, and that has to be passed on to future custodians of the franchise.

Thank you for setting me straight on the 888 seats. My apologies to the owner of the car. (However he still should do something about the ride height!)

Best

Folks,
If any of you have seen PJ Ehmann’s beautiful red G on black convertible, you’ll know that the 888 seats did not have the waffle pattern . I haven’t seen the car since the Poconos meet in 1977 but it was memorable . Given that the car was only 16 years old at the time, I have to believe that the smooth leather seats were completely original.

That is an interesting tidbit there Mr. Elder. It would seem to make sense given the low production.

Members are commenting on the seat panels on the 300G convert, not having the correct basket weave.  I am not an expert and have never seen an F or G with an 888 interior, however if you read Gil Cunningham’s story regarding his blue on blue 300F convert, here are his comments,

Up to this time, I had only seen a few of these “888” cars; but this one seemed to follow the pattern (1) color everywhere a standard 300 interior was tan and (2) solid leather on the seat surfaces in place of the normal basket weave.”

So, perhaps that aspect of the car is correct.
