John,  the 55-58 parts manual shows the '57 Chrysler using a 7/8"-18 plug and the '58 using a 5/8"-18.  Maybe the .646 plug was a "repair" type self tapping?  I made a magnetic one on my '57 Desoto by drilling two small holes in it and epoxying the magnets from the small screwdrivers.  Lynn

Anyone know real size? Later 413 says 5/8 -18 , measured mine from 392 it is .646 , ordered a 5/8-18 it is . 616 if you believe those guys. 5/8 is of course .625 , which is how bolts are measured --checked that. 

Trying to get magnetic drain bolt. All are too small ?????
