I caught the last half of that episode a couple days ago, so didn’t see the E. Filmed in local Morris, IL, I knew this episode was scheduled to play.
The E’s owner is former 300 Club member Len Lulich of Chicago and had mentioned this filming to me in early summer. Len has the building where this restoration filming was taking place.
Len purchased his E 3+ years ago, and is planning to restore it. I was connected to him back in '17, when he had some undercarriage work being done by the same shop I use for my F. The shop's owner connected us, so I could help Len with questions he had along the way. Gloria is familiar with this E, and offered that it was registered with our Club by a Richard Stone in 1983, also saying that the Club had no info on this E prior to, or following, Stone's brief period of Club membership.
Len's story is that this E was factory XXX Ivory White, but painted KKK Turquoise Gray by the selling dealer when brand new, because the purchaser didn't want a white E. This 300 is super straight nearly rust-free (save for some surface rust) factory a/c coupe, with all but 2 minor trim pieces needing replacement, which Len has obtained. The interior is shot, and Len has been patiently waiting for Dave Mihalko at Quirey to provide him his new interior. Len sent Dave his interior upholstery a couple years ago to use as a template, for reproducing additional E interiors. Len and I hooked up at the huge 500+ car Morris Saturday Cruise Night in August '17, where I checked the car out, and listened to how great the motor sounded. In the Garage Squad episode, you probably saw that the E has large areas of beige primer along with its Turquoise Gray paint, and the red anodized grille was painted black by a previous owner. I have photos of this E if anyone's interested.
Len is a true Mopar guy, but this is his first C-Body. He's restored several B- and E-Bodies of late '60s/early '70s vintage, including a winged-car recreation. I was at a Mopar party in August hosted by some new cruise night friends, who have several amazing B- and E-Bodies they've restored themselves, and met and visited with the grandfather/grandson who own this just-featured Kaiser Jeep M-715 military vehicle. They were really pleased with it, but couldn't discuss the project until the show aired on Garage Squad.
