Hi Mark, more than likely it’s the rubber sheath that covers the shift cable. When the car sits for extended periods, the torque converter drains back into the pan, the fluid level rises to the point it gets into the shift cable. The tranny fluid deteriorates the rubber and it leaks. I trimmed the rubber on the cable of my G, pulled the rubber down and then clamped it back in place. This is not an ideal fix, but I am not aware of replacement cables.
